If you are a parent or a person close to a current investigator or
member of NCCG, I am pretty sure nccg_concern
has made you panic, to say the least. When I fist came across it, I admit I was
shocked to see how this person aims directly to stir up emotion. Nccg_concern goes as far as to advise you on how to handle
a situation when you suspect that a member of your family or someone else close
to you is deeply involved in NCCG. The advice he
gives as presented at the bottom of Fast Facts article is the following:
1. Keep
it secret from the involved person, go as far as to erase computer logs and
history
2. Contact
nccg_concern himself for more information about
membership in the NCCG
3. If
you think the person is not deeply involved, then he recommends you have them
read his website
4. If
you think the person/member/investigator is deeply involved, seeking help from
professional exit counsellors is recommended.
As I have commented in Fast Facts, the advice you will trust and
act upon must be from a person who at least has an adequate level of integrity
related to the matter you are dealing with. I have discovered that trusting nccg_concern's advice may actually prove destructive for
both the involved individual and your relationship with him/her.
These are the reasons:
First of all, there is the matter of anonymity. Nccg_concern
will tell you he is named and has identified himself to people who he is
convinced honestly seek to leave NCCG or honestly
seek for a loved one of theirs to leave the church. However, in that sense, to
find out who nccg_concern
is, his age, credentials etc, you need to trust him first and agree with him on
many principles, one of which must be full disapproval of NCCG.
That way, he can never become accountable to those who disagree with him as he
will not reveal his identity to them. This is not a responsible attitude.
Thousands of people voice their opinions on the internet, in magazines and on
the TV presenting themselves and their qualifications without the veil of
anonymity, and many of them go through actual risks to do so. However, if there
is a good reason to hide one's identity, then so be it, but it will have to be
a VERY good reason when a person poses as an authority.
Nccg_concern has lied
about why he wishes to remain anonymous:
"My identity is not indicated on
this web site because I wish to avoid any unnecessary jeopardy of my personal
safety relative to my authorship of this web site."
NCCG does not
have a history of being a threat to personal safety of those who criticize
them. They have never so far gone after their other critics (and they had some
in the past) and its leader has blank criminal record. These are facts and
easily verifiable should it come to it. Nccg_concern
has no reason to be afraid about his personal safety whatsoever, and had he
been named to start with, very little would change. He would have definitely
been spared the attacks on his anonymity. I am perfectly sure he knows this.
As it becomes obvious, the reasons he has chosen to remain anonymous
ESPECIALLY towards C.C. Warren, are other reasons, most probably personal. This
leads to my second point:
There is very strong indication that nccg_concern's
agenda is anything BUT protecting people from a "dangerous" cult. It
appears that the centre of the target he aims at is C.C. Warren himself. You
can find proof of this in several places if you go through this website. I am
not aware of the motivation behind this agenda, and I imagine nor is C.C.
Warren who does not even know the name of this "investigator".
Please bear this in mind while you read nccg_concern's
advice on how to handle your loved ones: The person who calls himself nccg_concern is not concerned about YOU, or your son, or
daughter or friend. The best interests of you and your loved ones are NOT his
agenda, and I can say this with absolute certainty. If you look at his website
with unbiased lenses, you will reach the same conclusion. If nccg_concern offers to help you, seems compassionate or
shows any signs of true "concern," that is because he is a little
closer to achieving his real goal, which is simply to
do harm to C.C. Warren. Also keep this in mind: It is not NCCG
– the Church – that he is against; it is specifically its leader.
My final point has to do with nccg_concern's
suggestion that you should consult an exit counsellor. Nccg_concern
looks up to Rick Ross, considers him an expert, and the same about Mary Alice
Crapo. He has also posted in the Rick
Ross message boards, where he expresses no less than admiration
towards Rick Ross (there is but a small example mirrored here). Now there
is nothing wrong with looking up to people, but Rick Ross happens to be a
convicted criminal. The "professional" techniques that he and his
associates use include kidnapping, brainwashing, sexual abuse, drug circulation
and other criminal activities. M. A. Crapo (a.k.a. Chrnalogar)
used to be a member of C.A.N. (Cult Awareness
Network) before it went bankrupt and sold out and has also been arrested for
kidnapping. The chances that she changed her mind about these radical
techniques are very slim. You may find many articles in this website indicating
to that (see the links
in the index page and the note to exit counsellors). You needn't read
more than a few to understand why you would never want your children or loved
ones in the hands of these people. However, nccg_concern
seems to be oblivious to this criminal past. This is what nccg_concern
looks up to, what he recommends and what he defends in more that one occasion
in his website.
I am not a psychologist and not an expert on cults or church groups in
general. My only credentials are my common sense and what my observation of
both NCCG and nccg_concern.
The only advice I have for you is that before you call Rick Ross or another
"deprogrammer", before you erase your browser history, and before you
even panic with what nccg_concern would like you to
believe blindly, do a small investigation into NCCG
for yourself. If you care enough to hand thousands of dollars to counsellors
(professionals or charlatans), I am sure you would take the time to use your
critical thinking and examine NCCG and come to
balanced conclusions.
