Salai Than Maung (Christian name, Roger - Messianic name, Levi) was born in 1970 in Yangon (Rangoon), Myanmar (Burma) to Christian parents. He married Grace Eht Lowm in 2002 and is the father of three children.
He was converted to Messiah in 1986 and baptised by immersion in 1993. He formed the non-denominational New Covenant Fellowship [formerly Gospel of God For Myanmar] in 1990 and served as a free evangelist for three years from 1990 to 1993. During those years, he also served as a volunteer headmaster of private middle schools for two years. He studied theology at Zomi Theological College in Chin State for four years (1993-1997), and completed his Bachelor of Theology (B.Th) degree in 1997. He then served as the pastor of Thathay Kung Baptist Church in Khumiland for one year. He also served as a volunteer headmaster of a private middle school in Thathay Kung village where most are Buddhists and animists. Further, he studied theology at the Myanmar Institute of Theology in Yangon for three more years (1998-2001) where he completed his Master of Divinity (M.Div) in 2001. Afterward, he became a Free Baptist missionary for one year in Kachin State and served as a part-time lecturer at some Bible Colleges in Yangon for four years (2002-2005). He became the pastor of the Yangon-Myanmar New Covenant Assembly of Yahweh (NCAY) in 2013 and was the Presiding Pastor of NCAY Myanmar Mission which was admitted into full membership on 8 December 2016 after the required three year probationary and assessment period. The Mission was closed three months later, on 14 April 2017, for failure to meet up to the standards required by NCAY and reverted to an independent status.
